This week you took part in shared reading. First, we discussed what you knew about Peter Rabbit and brainstormed words we could use to describe him, such as cheeky, cute and daring. Then we watched the story on storylineonline. Throughout the video Whaea Alana paused the story and got you to discuss different aspects of Peter Rabbit’s actions, such as why he went against his mother’s wishes and why he didn’t tell his family what happened. At the end of the story Peter Rabbit was so exhausted from running away from Mr McGregor that he went straight to bed. Marc, you discussed a time you have had such a busy or full-on day that you came home and went to bed because you were so tired. It was interesting to hear everyone’s different experiences. Marc, your task was to rewrite the ending to the story from where Peter Rabbit had to run towards the gate in Mr McGregor’s garden to escape him. You took your time to draw pictures and write explanations of how you would’ve ended the story, and shared your ideas with the class. Marc, you really thought through how Peter and Mr McGregor were both feeling in their current circumstances, then had to make the decision to have your story end in a positive way or not. Ka pai Marc on your creativity with this task.
