Marc, this term you have worked alongside the other students in Kāhu Rua to get ready for our Market Day. We have been so proud of the creativity you have shown, the collaboration within your group and the perseverance you have shown throughout the process. Marc, you began by selecting the students you wanted to work with and brainstormed ideas for possible stalls. Then after some research and korero within your group, you decided on your two best ideas. You then presented these to your kaiako and discussed which was your best option. Marc, once your group had decided on your idea you then developed a company name and logo which you later used to create advertising and posters for your stall.
Throughout the term you had steps to complete each week in preparation for the actual day and ensure your stall was a success. You made a flyer to advertise to the community, which we delivered into people’s letterboxes. You also used Google Slides to create your own posters and you finalised your stall layout in your ice book. Finally it was Market Day!
Your group began to create your game by painting wooden cylinders and colour coding them for different amounts of points. You then tested your game with the rings to see how easy it would be to land it on the cylinder to get points. A couple of days before it was brought to your attention that young children would not be able to reach your game. You used your problem solving and with Whaea Alana decided a stool would help. On the day your stall was busy- you sold out of prizes! Well done!
What an amazing day it was! You have learnt so much throughout this term and we are proud of the confidence you have shown and the way you connected with our community! Our school whakatauki (Māori proverb) is whiria te tāngata which means ‘weave the people together’. Market day was a perfect example of this- you collaborated with your peers for an event that brought whānau and the community together. What an amazing effort in helping us fundraise for camp!
