Departing NZ, Arriving in USADeparting NZ, Arriving in USADecember 18, 2025 We departed Auckland Airport on the 18th of December and, after a long 12-hour flight, arrived in Los Angeles later that same day—thanks to the time difference. We touched down at around midday and spent about an hour going through customs. By the time we finally left the airport and took an Uber to our hotel near Disneyland, exhaustion had fully set in. The jet lag hit hard, and all we wanted to do was sleep. After a short rest and a much-needed nap, Dad and I decided to head out on foot to the nearest Walmart to pick up some essentials and groceries. It was during this walk that we realised how early the sun sets in California—by around 5pm, the sky was already dark, which felt strange compared to back home. On our way back to the hotel, hunger caught up with us, so we stopped by a nearby Taco Bell to grab some dinner. It was a simple end to a long travel day, but it felt good to finally be settled and officially start our time in the US.

Disney California Adventure Park - Day 1Disney California Adventure Park - Day 1December 19, 2025 After a full night of sleep, we woke up feeling refreshed and energised, ready to take on an entire day at Disney California Adventure Park. The moment we stepped through the gates, the atmosphere felt electric—music playing, people rushing past, and the excitement of what lay ahead buzzing in the air. It was finally time for a day packed with thrill, adventure, and adrenaline. We wasted no time and headed straight to our first ride: WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. From the moment the ride began, we were fully immersed in Spider-Man’s world. Our mission was to shoot webs at robotic spiders that were rapidly multiplying and threatening to take over the city. The ride was fast, chaotic, and surprisingly intense, with our arms constantly moving as we tried to hit as many targets as possible. Our family shouted instructions to each other, working as a team, and by the end, we were exhausted but laughing, proud that we had helped Spider-Man complete his mission.
Afterwards, we wandered around the park, taking time to familiarise ourselves with the different lands and attractions. Bright colours, towering structures, and themed music surrounded us everywhere we went. To slow things down slightly, we boarded The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. This ride took us deep under the ocean on a gentle, musical journey through Ariel’s story. Surrounded by glowing coral, singing sea creatures, and iconic songs, it felt calm and nostalgic—a peaceful break before the chaos returned.
That calm didn’t last long. Craving something more intense, we made our way to Grizzly Peak and climbed aboard Grizzly River Run. The raft spun and twisted as we were thrown into wild rapids, crashing through waves and plunging down steep drops. Cold water splashed over us without warning, soaking our clothes. Every sharp turn brought screams and laughter, and although we were drenched by the end, the thrill made it unforgettable.
Next, we stepped indoors for Mickey’s PhilharMagic, a 3D short film that followed Donald Duck on a whirlwind journey through different Disney worlds. The music, special effects, and familiar characters made it fun and lighthearted, giving us a chance to relax and catch our breath.
By lunchtime, hunger had fully kicked in, so we headed to Pym Test Kitchen in Avengers Campus. The food there felt as dramatic as the rides—giant-sized portions that looked almost unreal. We shared the biggest pretzel I had ever seen, a massive turkey leg, and later treated ourselves to a churro from a nearby stall. Fully fed and re-energised, we were ready for the next adventure.
That adventure came in the form of Soarin’ Around the World, one of the most breathtaking experiences of the day. As our seats lifted into the air, it felt like we were truly flying. We soared over towering mountains, famous landmarks, and stunning landscapes across the globe. The sweeping aerial views, gentle motion, and immersive visuals made it feel magical, like travelling the world in just a few minutes.
Later in the afternoon, we took an Uber to The Outlets at Orange, where we explored different stores and grabbed a meal at In-N-Out.
After returning our shopping to the hotel, we headed back to the park as the sun began to set. Pixar Pier glowed with lights, and the atmosphere felt completely different—warmer, louder, and more alive. As a family, we rode Toy Story Midway Mania, competing to score the highest by shooting targets. I tried my hardest, but to my disappointment, Dad managed to beat all of us, claiming victory with a grin.
Not long after, Dad and I decided it was time to face the ultimate challenge: the Incredicoaster. While waiting for our turn, we rode Silly Symphony Swings. The swings slowly began to rise and spin faster and faster, lifting us higher into the air. The wind rushed past my face as we clutched the chains tightly, spinning in dizzying circles. Yet, despite the intensity, my mind was fixed on one thing—the rollercoaster waiting for us.
Finally, it was time. We made our way through the line and were given seats at the very back of the Incredicoaster. As the coaster crept forward, my heart pounded. Outside, a loud countdown echoed: Five… four… three… two… one. In an instant, we were launched forward at unbelievable speed. The wind roared in my ears as we raced through sharp turns and plunged down steep drops. Then came the loop. For the first time in my life, I went completely upside down, and in that moment, it felt like my soul left my body. My fear turned into pure adrenaline as the coaster screamed along the track. When the ride finally slowed and came to a stop, my legs felt weak, and my heart was still racing. We had survived it.
Next, we rode the Golden Zephyr, which felt incredibly gentle compared to what we had just experienced.
After returning to the hotel to briefly rest, we made one final decision to head out for the night and walk to Downtown Disney. Even though we were exhausted, the energy there was impossible to ignore. Bright lights lit up the walkways, music played from every direction, and the area was filled with people enjoying the night atmosphere. We slowly wandered through the shops, taking in the sights and sounds, and soaking up the final moments of the day. Compared to the chaos of the rides, Downtown Disney felt lively yet relaxed, making it the perfect way to wind down. By the time we finally headed back, the adrenaline had faded, replaced by pure exhaustion. It was the ideal ending to a long, thrilling, and unforgettable day.
By the time we returned to the hotel, my head was spinning, my body ached, and exhaustion had completely taken over. It had been a long, intense, and unforgettable day—one filled with thrills, laughter, and memories I knew I would never forget.

Clippers VS LakersClippers VS LakersDecember 20, 2025 After a quick rest back at the hotel, we called an Uber to head to Intuit Dome for the highly anticipated Clippers vs Lakers game. After an hour-long ride, we arrived at the arena and immediately bought some fan gear and team merchandise so we could support our team properly. Our seats were in “The Wall,” a section reserved for the most passionate supporters. What we didn’t know, however, was that we would be given free T-shirts, making the atmosphere even louder and more exciting. Intuit Dome, the newest arena in the NBA, truly lived up to the hype. Before the game even started, fireworks, firecrackers, and flames burst out behind the hoops, sending the energy in the building through the roof. During warm-ups, we could clearly see the players’ pregame routines—Harden was practicing finishing through contact, Zubac worked on his floaters, and Luka played around shooting trick shots. When the game tipped off, the crowd did not disappoint. The Clippers went on an early scoring run, with Harden knocking down two threes to start the game. The Lakers struggled to respond, and the score quickly began to look like a blowout. Unfortunately, Zubac went down after falling hard to the floor and didn’t return for the rest of the game. Despite this setback, the Clippers maintained a strong lead. Every time the Lakers shot free throws, we booed and chanted for them to miss—and it seemed to work. Although the Lakers attempted a comeback, Kawhi Leonard took control of the game, finishing with a massive 30-point performance. By halftime, we were feeling hungry, so my dad and sister went to grab some food. During the break, a Candy Crush–sponsored game and a trivia contest kept the crowd entertained—and I didn’t miss a single trivia question. Late in the third quarter, LeBron James stepped up and kept the Lakers within striking distance, cutting the lead to around ten points. But Kawhi had other plans. Scoring time and time again, he shut down the comeback and led the Clippers to a big win over the Lakers.
Disneyland Park - Day 2Disneyland Park - Day 2December 20, 2025 After a good night’s rest, we woke up early, determined to reach Disneyland before the queues began to stretch endlessly. We arrived at the park at around 9am, just after the gates had opened, with excitement buzzing but no clear plan in mind. Still slightly unorganised, we wandered down Main Street, U.S.A., taking in the classic sights and sounds before heading toward Adventureland, the closest land to the entrance.
Our first attraction of the day was the Jungle Cruise. We boarded a slow-moving boat led by a witty and energetic skipper, who instantly set the tone for the ride. As we drifted along the jungle river, we passed lifelike animatronic animals hidden among the trees, designed to look as though they were thriving in their natural habitats. Throughout the journey, the skipper cracked jokes—many of them clearly improvised—which filled the boat with laughter and made the experience even more memorable.
After stepping off the boat, we headed toward the Adventureland Treehouse. Climbing up into the branches of the giant tree, we explored the multi-level walk-through attraction inspired by Swiss Family Robinson. Built from found objects, the treehouse told the story of a resourceful explorer family. At the top, we were rewarded with stunning views across the park, and along the way, we spotted hidden details and Easter eggs cleverly tucked throughout the structure.
Our third attraction took us to New Orleans Square, where we queued for nearly an hour to enter the Haunted Mansion. The wait was long, but it proved to be worth it. Since we visited during the holiday season, the mansion was transformed with a Christmas theme, featuring skeletons and spooky characters celebrating in their own eerie way. The ride was slow but loud and unsettling, taking us on a chilling tour through the mansion’s haunted halls.
By this point, we were craving something faster and more intense. Luckily, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was nearby. This ride was packed with energy, music, and storytelling as it followed Tiana’s journey. Sharp turns, sudden twists, and one massive 50-foot drop caught us completely off guard. Water splashed everywhere, leaving us drenched from head to toe, with water sloshing around in our shoes. Despite being soaked, the sheer thrill made it entirely worth it.
After hopping off the ride, we stood under the sun, hoping to dry off quickly. There was no time to waste, though, as we rushed toward Space Mountain. Thanks to our Lightning Lane pass, we skipped the long queue and boarded almost immediately. The ride began slowly before plunging us into total darkness. Small lights shimmered like stars as the coaster twisted and turned at high speeds. The sharp bends and sudden drops kept me guessing what would come next, and the unpredictability made it one of the most exhilarating rides of the day. When it ended, I wanted to go again—but kept that thought to myself.
After two intense rides, we decided it was time to slow things down. Just nearby was Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, a calmer but still competitive ride. My sister and I teamed up, firing lasers at as many aliens as we could to help Buzz defeat Zurg. Despite our efforts, we fell short and lost to our parents, which was both frustrating and funny.
For lunch, we stopped at Alien Pizza Planet, where we refuelled with food and regained some much-needed energy. After eating, we continued exploring the park. We rode King Arthur’s Carousel, a classic and relaxing attraction, before heading to Mickey’s Toontown. There, we met Mickey Mouse in his workshop, took photos, and watched a few short Mickey Mouse episodes, leaving with big smiles on our faces. Our final attraction was Autopia, where we got to drive simulated cars along a track. It was a fun and relaxed way to end our time at the park.
However, as we attempted to leave early to make it to our NBA game, our plans were briefly disrupted when a parade blocked several key routes through the park, making it difficult for us to exit. Despite the delay, the day had been packed with excitement, adventure, and unforgettable moments—another incredible chapter in our Disneyland experience. |

Disneyland Park - Day 3Disneyland Park - Day 3December 21, 2025 As we woke up later than usual -- because of the late game from last night -- we were greeted by a sunny morning. As we headed to Disneyland for the third and final time, we took in everything we had missed the previous days. The sun shone above our heads as we arrived at the parks at around 9:30am. Compared to the other days, today me and my dad were going to stick together and go on rides that we wanted to go on, while my mum and sister left for their own adventure. However, our first attraction we decided to go on was the Indiana Jones Adventure that was this fast-paced thrill ride that takes you into the crumbling Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Because we used our lightning lane pass for a different ride, we had to wait in line for this ride. However, it was definetely worth it. The ride used smartly placed props and projecters to make us feel like we were on a mission with Indiana Jones. This ride was thrilling and the effects made it one to remember. Personally, the part that I remembered best was when we tried escaping a rolling ball, which is an iconic scene in the Indiana Jones movies. As we left the ride in awe and excitement, me and my dad made our way to the Star Wars land where we wandered around, taking in the massive buildings and architecture inspired by the Star Wars galaxy. Me and my dad were trying to find a way to get to Mickey's Toon Town where we would meet up with my mum and sister, but after taking a couple wrong turns, we somehow got back to Adventureland. After finally meeting up with them, we all went to the Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Rail ride which was well made and had some interesting storylines. Thnis ride was to climb aboard a runaway train for a zippy and zany adventure through an ever-changing cartoon world. After this ride, we split off again and me and my dad went to visit the "Star Tours" attraction which was a ride that consisted of us exploring iconic Star Wars destinations on a 3D, motion-simulated space journey. The ride was humorous and had funny twists and changes to the story. The ride was realistic as it simulated a space ship that moved like a space ship through space. After this, we were all pretty hungry so we went back to Downtown Disney for lunch.
