On one fine day, we walked down to see and learn what’s around our environment.
We have talked and discussed a lot about the big sculpture near our centre. It is placed at a roundabout at the intersection of Resolution Dr and Borman Rd.
We learnt to say its name in Te Reo, which is Te Ohomauri o Matariki. We also learnt that there are 7 wakas placed around this roundabout and in the centre of the wakas there are lots of eels (tuna).
We learnt that a long long time ago this place used to be a big lake (Roto) with lots of eels (tuna) in it. That’s why this area is called Rototuna.
During our walk to the roundabout, we also practiced how to cross the road safely.
We obviously learnt a lot of new things about our environment today.
